Experimental Audio Film

It is very commonly stated among people that a picture paints a thousand words but what to do you if you’re unable to see? Personally, I do believe that after the sense of sight, the sense of sound is the most important and keeping that in mind, for this audio experimental film, I decided to choose a painting that could be described exactly as it was painted using sounds.

Every piece of art is viewed differently by its audience and being mindful of that, I decided to look for paintings that could easily help me express what I observed from it through sound. My first few choices where A Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh and some other of his paintings, and while it was obvious that I wouldn’t be able to fully depict what the paintings expressed through sound, I chose the following painting for my audio experimental film!

A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte

Editing and Execution:
Keeping the painting in mind, I downloaded some sounds from YouTube that had no copyrights and merged different sounds e.g. the sound of a dog panting with the sound of a dog barking in the audio. I used Adobe Premiere to edit this assignment.

Once all of my sounds had perfectly merged together and helped me figure out what was shown in the painting with my eyes closed, I knew that my assignment was done. Below is the final draft of my assignment.
